My presentation/demonstration portion of the parties lasts for about
15 minutes. The rest of the time, guests browse the catalogs and I
help them with any questions, placing orders, etc. Very simple! No
inventory, etc. I only make two trips from my car to the house and
I'm usually out within 2 hours.
The hostess plan is covered by the company (all the free product,
half price items, hostess gift expressions, etc.). I typically offer
my hostess a free expression (which costs me around $3-$4) and I use
that expression as the demonstration portion of my presentation. BUT
this is not necessary.
As for supplies, our biggest supply costs are the catalogs. They
cost us $15.95 for a pack of 8 and they are NICE catalogs! I usually
only sell mine for $3 at shows (which covers my cost including the
shipping and tax). However, when I have to mail them, I charge the
$4.95 as stated because I ship them at no extra charge via priority
mail (which costs almost as much as the retail price of the
catalogs). My catalogs sell like hotcakes and I haven't had an issue
with it yet. The catalogs are full of ideas as well as all of the
products offered.
