My child care home of 20+ years is a safe, positive, learning environment. As an early childhood educator, I've been fingerprinted, background checked (avail. online), taken 1st aid, CPR and dozens of parenting and education courses in addition to my bachelor's degree. I specialize in last minute emergencies and flexible schedules. I'm a 50 old mom of 4 girls, 2 still at home.
Kids can learn, grow and have fun with hundreds of educational toys, games, software and activities. Their health and safety are my top priorities--There's a stranger- and child-proof gate, compressed rubber under play surfaces inside and out and tv and audio monitoring. We serve whole grains and vegetables and don't allow gum, pop or candy. We practice positive reinforcement not discipline. (We teach rules instead of time out.) We don't watch commercial tv and limit PBS and rated "Y" tv and movies to early mornings and after 8pm.
The most I ever charge is $5/hour, for an hour or two. $3/hour for longer shifts and regularly scheduled care. Overnights are less than $2/hour. Drop off after dinner and pick up mid-morning. I provide evening snack, toothbrush, clean bedding and place to sleep and breakfast (whole grain cereal, 2% milk and fruit or 100% fruit juice) for $30. Commit to 2x/month and the rate drops to $25!!!
